Get as close to Japan as you can get without stepping on a plane. You’ll have a chance to taste your favorite savory Japanese pancake お好み焼き OKONOMIYAKI and those oh-so-delicious Japanese octopus dumpling balls たこ焼き TAKOYAKI from OTAFUKU, one of New York’s favorite Japanese hotspots.
Also Sake Sommelier Chizuko, the founder of Sake Discoveries will serve you samples of some of Japan’s best sake from Hakkaisan Brewery which uses only highly polished, locally-produced sake rice from Niigata Prefecture which is known for producing high quality rice and water. The ‘Hakkaisan’ series has a lot of loyal fans in Japan as this sake is a clear, crisp and refined honjozo. You’ll be served three types of sake for tasting, Hakkaisan’s Ginjo, Tokubetsu Junmai, and Honjozo (warm).

Akita Sake Club (ASC) was established in June 2006 to introduce AKITA Prefecture’s sake, food, and goods to the people in the NYC area. This Spring, ASC is proud to announce “The Tenth Akita Sake Tasting Event” on May 5th, 2010. Please join over 16 visiting sake brewers from Akita and different all across Japan to taste over 30 of finest sake we have chosen for you to try.
You can also savour some of Akita’s delicacies such as Inaniwa cold udon noodle, Akita miso flaor honey chicken, Iburi gakko (Smoked daikon radish pickles), miso flavor been curd and many othters. Sappro beer will be served as well. For our environment’s sake, please bring your own sake glass ochoko! Guest musicians will be performing Jazz for our guests.

Sakagura is very excited to announce the arrival of our anticipated Sake Tasting Event in 2010. The tasting event will feature over 50 selections include newly arrived sakes that are yet to be introduced in the New York market carefully chosen from sake masters and distributors who have been taking an active part in the “Nihon-shu” industry in the U.S. market.
It would take a life time consume all the different varieties of sake available, but we believe these selections will open up new regions of the palette for tasters.
Sakagura will be decorated with lots of fresh real cherry blossoms in the whole restaurant. We will serve Sakagura Executive Chef, Mr. Yasuhiro Honma’s special seasonal dishes on this event. Welcome you to join us and let us “KANPAI” under the amazing sakura trees!
