ASC was established in June 2006 to introduce AKITA Prefecture’s sake, food, and goods
to the people in the NYC area. This Autumn, ASC is proud to announce “The Akita Sake Tasting Event” on November 11, 2009.
Please join over 20 visiting sake brewers from Akita and different all across Japan to taste over 30 of finest sakes we have chosen for you to try.
You can also savour some of Akita’s delicacies such as Kiritanpo, mashed rice stick, broiled and boiled in soup, Akita miso flavor honey chicken, Iburi gakko (Smoked radish pickles), and many others. For our environment’s sake, please bring your sake glass !
Guest musicians will be performing Jazz for our guests.

UGOPOLY PARTY
UGOPOLY is MONOPOLY’s Akita edition. I know it sounds ridiculous…but this game is very serious!!
We some Akita people got together for this game, but no one had played even Monopoly…so, we needed to learn how to play this first with a description. It took a while…little hard to get it, but we started to play anyway!
I guess the rule is almost same with Monopoly. We buy the lands, expand them, and protect them, but sometimes Ms. to Tamagawa hot spring?”(Tamagawa hot spring is one of very famous hot spring in Akita) then we need to pay extra for her… but Akita ken(Akita dog) sometimes tells us good things like “I found some money when I dug here!” So funny and cute. We played over 5hours for only one game!! Who was winner?? Yes, I AM!! Yeah!! I became super rich Akita woman!!(I wish it was real….orz)
We had great Akita sake Kariho “Rokushu” Junmai Ginjo Nama (not available US market) with our local specialty Iburi gakko which is smoked daikon radish pickles from my mother in Akita.
The countryside Japan, Akita prefecture meets New York. Akita people meet UGOPOLY in New York!
